Welcome Home
We're home. I felt like this moment was never going to get here, like I was just waiting for something that didn't exist. A far-away thought. A daydream.
But here we are. I'm sitting on my new couch, in my new house.
After our friend helped us load everything up and move us, our families met us here to help with the unloading. We ordered pizza and used a cardboard box for a table and sat on the floor. Kyle and I are sleeping on our (big) new couch tonight because our bed is still packed away. The whole day has been a whirlwind, and I'm just so relieved to finally be here, the daydream now real.
This house already feels familiar, because it's a house Kyle and I already know so well. But now, it's different. It's filled with memories of his childhood, but now void of furniture and past belongings, waiting for us to fill it with our own.
Tomorrow, we'll go to Starbucks (the coffee pot is still packed away, too), fetch the rest of our stuff from the storage unit, and go to town. The unpacking isn't very fun, but I'm excited to start making this place or own, filling it with our own belongings and our own memories.
I'm so thankful to have been welcomed back to these mountains. I'm home.
